The event was held at Haslemere Hall on Friday 30th September. Jeremy spoke along with Cllr. Dr Andrew Povey, leader of Surrey County Council, Cllr. Robert Knowles, leader of Waverley Borough Council and Abigail Harrison of Digital Surrey.
The summit was attended by local businesses, Councillors and community group representatives keen to discuss the importance and need for good broadband coverage. The event was part of Jeremy's campaign for Superfast Broadband in South West Surreyl. On becoming Secretary of State, Jeremy pledge 100% boradband coverage across the country and 90% superfast coverage by 2015.
Jeremy said: "Reliable coverage has the potential to revitalise our economy and make life easier for many people, particularly in rural areas like Surrey where reliable broadband allows people to work from homoe, have online shopping delivered and keep in touch. Surrey County Council has one of the most ambitious plans in the country and I take my hat off to them for being bold."
