Network Rail are planning to close the B3000 bridge for major repair works. This will cause major disruption for both local communities along the route and regular users of the road. To date Network Rail's plans do not include suggestions for improvements to the bridge (increasing the width, paths for pedestrians and cyclists etc).
On Friday 8th August Jeremy Hunt MP and Anne Milton MP chaired a meeting with Network Rail, attended by Councillors Nick Williams, David Hunter and Steve Cosser.
Network Rail and Surrey County Council have agreed that there will be a 6 month delay in the work to enable further consultation and discussions over the bridge. Local Councillors will continue to lobby for improvements to the bridge and not simply a like for like replacement.
